Origin
In the late eighties, Japanese company Nintendo sought to break into the US market. Among its strategies, intentó –sin éxito– obtener los derechos de licencia del popular personaje “Popeye” to run a video game in which the marine rescue his girlfriend “Olivia” hands of his archenemy “Brutus”. Unable to use these characters, Miyamoto created alternative in homage to the original: "Jumpman" (Man Jumping) take the role of “Popeye”; “Pauline” the girl would be hard-pressed rather than “Olivia” and finally the gorilla “Donkey Kong”, which gave its name to the game, would be the alter ego of “Brutus”. This game was one of the first major successes of the company, thus fulfilling its goal.

En 1983 "Jumpman" would be called "Super Mario" on the eponymous video game that appeared for the first time with his brother, “Luigi”. On this occasion, enemies out of a pipe at the sides of the screen and the shape could be cooperative game or competing against each other, consumer tastes.

Sin embargo, it was not until 1985 When we would know Super Mario in its true essence: as rescuer princess “Peach Toadstool” del Reino Mushroom, kidnapped by the evil king turtle “Bowser”, Lord of the "Cave". The title broke all sales schemes, getting place up 40 million copies of the game worldwide. The Guinness Book of Record estimated, next to “Tetris” Y “Pokémon” (All versions), It is the best selling game ever. Therefore it is not surprising that Nintendo will soon become image and symbol of the company.

A long history
In his more than three decades, Mario creators have managed to exploit the charms of "Beanie" favorite of all-indeed, le pusieron gorra para no tener que animar el movimiento del pelo cuando saltaba– y pronto siguieron nuevas entregas y secuelas al juego original:
“Super Mario Bros 2” Y “Super Mario Bros 3” would complete the first trilogy Character, improving and expanding the animation mode of play before moving to the next console model.

In the 90, the console "Super Nintendo" he would give Mario a new sidekick -“Yoshi”, un dinosaurio mascota que le permitía ir cabalgando por esos mundos de dios– en dos nuevas entregas: “Super Mario World 1 and 2 ". And driving license, attending the launch of the first “Super Mario Kart”, which also revolutionized racing games in a mode 7 hitherto unknown.

In the late 90, thanks to jump into the third dimension began to enjoy Mario and his world with a perspective never seen: It was no longer go right to reach the goal, but it had to explore and investigate to solve the mysteries in large open spaces. “Mario 64” (1996) Y “Super Mario Sunshine” (2002) are two good examples.

In its final stage, with popular “Wii” Y “Wii U”, the Mario universe was "on fire" and it had no limits for him: “Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 " son dos obras de arte donde nuestro héroe probó lo que era flotar por el espacio y saltar de planetoide en planetoide a un estilo que recordaba a "The little Prince", transmitting a sensitivity to the story rounded player experience. And increasingly greater prominence is given to new players and to the idea of group play, Mario makers saw clear: It was time to try to play four bands. They redefined the concept of the original Mario but with four players at once. He sold out in Spain in the campaign of Kings 2010.

Trascendencia y logros
“Super Mario Bros” helped popularize the platform video game genre - in which the character jumps from one platform to another as he moves across the screen - by introducing an easy way to play,,es,in a demo of what a new installment of Mario could mean in the future,,es, dynamic and accessible to the whole family. Mario video games are among the most popular, sobre todo entre el público profano o los “ocasional players” (casual gamers), and more memory have permeated several generations: la banda sonora a manos de “Koji Kondo” es reconocida al instante por jugadores de todo el mundo.
The game is in first place in the ranking of EGM, the list of 200 most important games of his time, and he has been named the best game by IGN in his top 100 twice: en 2005 Y 2007. Even in 2006 el gobierno japonés colocó a “Super Mario Bros.” dentro de los 100 most representative artistic means of that country. Even in Spain we have made our special tribute to the first street in the world with the name of the character: la Avenida Super Mario Bros. It opened in Zaragoza 2010.
A promising future
It is clear that Mario is here to stay, but in words its creator, considering would take the franchise in a new direction: "Developers feel it is time to move in a new direction, and we are preparing to work on the future of Super Mario hereinafter ". In a sea of uncertainties, and surpassed Surf Big party commemorating the thirtieth anniversary, hace unos meses apareció un vídeo en youtube showing the work of a developer “amateur” with engine “Unreal Engine 4” en una demo de lo que podría suponer una nueva entrega de Mario en la futurible Nintendo NX. Astonishing realism and quality of scenarios in which our protagonist moves; perhaps too realistic compared to Mario, which it remains the same doll with animated aires. Time will tell what he has prepared.
